On July 29, 2026 Toyota Motor Corporation released a partially modified Coaster Bus.
This partial update includes advanced features and the enhanced preventive safety package “Toyota Safety Sense” (standard on all models). It adopts Pre-Crash Safety (collision avoidance support type with pedestrian [day and night], bicycle [day and night], and motorcycle [day] detection function / millimeter-wave radar + monocular camera system), expanding the detection range by including not only vehicles and pedestrians but also bicycle riders. It also adds functions such as detecting oncoming straight vehicles when turning right at intersections and pedestrians crossing from opposite directions when turning right or left.
Additionally, as an additional feature, a “delayed start notification function” was set up to notify the driver if the vehicle continues to stop without realizing that the preceding vehicle has started or that the stop indicator on the traffic light has been canceled at an intersection.
