Hino Motors launches the improved model of compact bus “Hino Liesse II”

Enhancing safety equipment and driver assistance functions to reduce driver burden while making travel safer

July 29, 2026

Hino Motors Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Hino City, Tokyo; President: Satyacam Arya; hereafter referred to as Hino) has improved the compact bus “Hino Liesse II” and will launch it starting today.

In this update,PCS(Pre-Crash Safety: Collision Mitigation Brake) has been significantly enhanced. Expanded detection targets to include bicycles and motorcycles. Additionally, it now supports detection not only when going straight, but also at right turns at intersections, including oncoming straight-going vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles crossing, and vehicles or motorcycles at the start of encounters, supporting collision avoidance and damage mitigation in various driving scenarios.
Furthermore, it has newly added a “Low-Speed Acceleration Suppression Function,” which suppresses acceleration when the accelerator is pressed too hard when an object is detected ahead at low speeds, and an “Emergency Brake Signal” that automatically flashes the hazard lamps during sudden braking to alert following vehicles, further enhancing safety performance.

For driver assistance, a new “Start Delay Notification Function” has been added, which quickly notifies drivers of signal changes at intersections and the start of the preceding vehicle via buzzer and display display. Furthermore, all vehicles come standard with a “7.0-inch TFT color multi-information display” and a “color LCD digital meter” that display the status of safety equipment status, warnings, and advice in color for high visibility, creating a driving environment where drivers can quickly grasp the information they need.

Hino regards “overall quality,” which combines “product quality” to keep customers’ vehicles running continuously and “total support quality,” as its greatest strength. Going forward, it will continue to solve customer and societal issues by improving product safety performance and driver assistance functions, aiming to realize a sustainable society.

Safety Equipment

PCS※1 (Pre-Collision Safety) Vehicle and Pedestrian Detection Function for Going Straight [Standard Equipment] Supports

collision avoidance and damage mitigation when driving straight.

Detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead (day and night), bicycles (day and night), and motorcycles (daytime) using millimeter-wave radar and monocular cameras. The warning buzzer and multi-information display alert you of a possible collision, and if you apply the brakes, it offers Pre-Collision Brake Assist. If you cannot press the brakes, the pre-crash brake is activated to help avoid collisions or mitigate damage.

Oncoming straight-going vehicles when turning right at intersections, pedestrians and bicycles crossing when turning right or left※2Detection Function [Standard Equipment] Detects

oncoming vehicles going straight during right turns and pedestrians or bicycles crossing during right or left turns using millimeter-wave radar and monocular cameras. Intersection detection extends its operating range to oncoming vehicles up to two adjacent lanes. A buzzer and display warn you of a possible collision, and the pre-crash brake is activated at the same time. Supports collision avoidance and damage mitigation.

:

When entering an intersection, vehicles and motorcycles are detected using millimeter-wave radar and monocular cameras. A buzzer and display warn you of a possible collision, and the pre-crash brake is activated at the same time. Supports collision avoidance and damage mitigation.

◆ Depending on the shape of the intersection, it may not be possible to provide proper support.
◆ Pre-Collision Brake Assist does not activate.

Low-Speed Acceleration Suppression [Standard] Supports collision avoidance and damage reduction by detecting pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles directly in front of your vehicle at low speeds.

Detects pedestrians, bicycles, and vehicles right in front of your car at low speeds using millimeter-wave radar and monocular cameras. If the accelerator pedal is pressed too hard from a stop or slow while there is an object ahead, the system suppresses engine output or applies weak braking to suppress acceleration, supporting collision avoidance and damage mitigation.
◆ This system is not a replacement for the parking support brake (for stationary objects in front and back).

Emergency Brake Signal (Hazard Lamp Blinking) [Standard Equipment] Notify the following vehicle of emergency braking;

when you apply the emergency brake, the hazard lamp will automatically flash. It alerts following vehicles and helps reduce the risk of being rear-ended.

Driver assistance features

Delayed Start Notification Function (TMN) [Standard] Supports delayed departure prevention when the preceding vehicle

starts Provides alerts via buzzer and multi-information display when the signal changes from red to blue at intersections or when the preceding vehicle starts ‘accidental delayed start.’

◆TMN: Traffic Movement Notification
◆ Can also detect right-turn arrow signals.
◆ Activates when the brake pedal is pressed and the shift position is other than “P” or “R” and the station is stopped.
◆ Activates when the system determines that your vehicle remains stopped even after the preceding vehicle has advanced about 4 meters or more. You can also turn functions ON/OFF and change the timing of notifications.
